Introduction

Customer Service Workshop 2026

NOAC hosted its third annual workshop in Kilkenny Castle to showcase examples of good practice in customer service.

The Workshop was an excellent opportunity for Directors of Services responsible for Customer Services and Heads of Communication Units in local authorities across Ireland, as well as other key stakeholders in the sector, to meet and discuss an array of important initiatives around the area of customer service.

One of the presentations featured on the day was the “ Single Point of Contact” project which puts the customer at the centre and reinforces a proactive service, ensuring that issues are anticipated and addressed early. In addition, a presentation was delivered on the libraries 3D virtual tours that reduces barriers that may prevent customers, especially neurodivergent users, children, and those experiencing anxiety, from accessing public services. Finally, there was a project featuring a county-wide network of designated Community Support Centres (CSCs) to support communities during emergency events and periods of disruption.
